About

Our Story

Derry Credit Union is a local, not for profit financial institution. We specialise in providing a great place for savings and loans in our community.

The Credit Union Difference

Credit unions are different from banks and other financial institutions.

Each credit union is independent. We are not branches of a larger organisation.

We are a not-for-profit, member-owned local financial institution.

We have members, not customers. Our members are co-owners of Derry Credit Union.

We exist solely for the benefit of our members.

Members enjoy competitively priced loans, two share accounts and three insurance covers*.

We ask our members to save regularly to contribute to our loan fund, attend our AGM and encourage potential members to join.

*Terms & Conditions apply.

Our Story

On 16th October 1960, the first meeting of Derry Credit Union took place. Attended by our six founder members, they pooled their combined savings of £8.60. Six decades later, our credit union has a membership of 40,000 and our common bond covers the entire BT47 and BT48 post code areas. Our assets are £116 million. We have injected £650 million into the local economy in the form of loans, dividends, and interest rebate payments. We have two offices and offer our members six loan types, two share accounts, three insurance covers, and a digital loan service. As a member of Derry Credit Union, you are part of this success story!
